Before I start a project, I look for quality boards. It may take a little while   to find them, but it is   usually worth the wait. I buy all my lumber rough sawn    and mill it to my needs.   I use no metal fasteners, prefering to use traditional    joinery methods as in             Dovetails,       Mortis & Tennon         & keyed miters
